Why Viral “Man In Finance” TikToker Megan Boni Isn’t Actually Looking for That in Her Next Relationship

What if a 6-foot-5 man working in finance with blue eyes and a trust fund doesn’t actually exist?
That’s no problem for Megan Boni, who went viral this summer for creating a 19-second TikTok video listing those as traits of an “ideal” partner. While the unexpected success of the catchy tune has taken Megan (a.k.a. Girl on Couch) all over the world, she admits she isn’t actually looking for those specific qualities in her next relationship.
“Shocker: I'm not looking for a man in finance,” Megan exclusively told E! News. “I'm really looking for someone who can balance me out, isn't as funny as me and I'm attracted to.”
And what is most important for the TikToker—who partnered with SkinCeuticals to remix her hit song to highlight their newest anti-wrinkle serum P-TIOX—is finding someone who “has their own thing going on.”
“I'm a really independent person,” the 27-year-old continued. “I need my space and I need them to be passionate about whatever they do, whether that's finance or teaching.”
So, what led the New Yorker to write the unofficial song of the summer? Dating fatigue.
“I was really trying to make fun of those girls—myself included, because I'm single—who just want a boyfriend but their standards are just way too high,” Megan explained. “I think I'm blaming it on online dating. I just know that there's more out there. So it's making me even pickier, but it really was a satire and a play on these crazy needs. I didn't even know there were men who were 6-foot-5 but, like, love that.”
And the overnight success has been overwhelming, with Megan noting that it has affected her dating life in a big way.
“My DMs were flooded there for a really, really long time,” she shared. “It was super fun. But to be honest, I was so overwhelmed that I couldn't even think about men. Sometimes I'll be on Hinge and a guy will respond to one of my prompts and be like, ‘I'm not 6-foot-5.’ And I don't know why [but] that turns me off a little if they know about it for some reason.”
But her fame has impacted more than just her love life. Her tune was featured in a song from Grammy winner David Guetta, who she joined on trips to Las Vegas and Ibiza, Spain, to perform with him. She said she was even offered a record deal to write an album, but turned it down to focus on her passion to pursue comedy.
“I had to decline because I don't think it's for me,” Megan said. “I'd rather make people laugh. I'm taking acting classes now and once I'm comfortable there, hopefully I can start auditioning for some sitcoms or movies, but I'd like to be in comedy eventually.”
In the meantime, she’s building her career as a social media star, most recently partnering with SkinCeuticals to share how women can be their own financiers by investing in their skin. “Before I became a full-time influencer, I didn't really have a skincare routine,” the Girl on Couch creator added. “But now since my face is always on the camera, I became obsessed with this P-TIOX.”
And while she prepares for whatever her future holds—be that a man in finance or a full-time comedy career—Megan is making sure to celebrate the past few months.
“The summer of finance has concluded,” she wrote in a Sept. 2 Instagram post that included a picture with David Guetta. “Craziest summer of mi life!”
